If you’ve searched high and low for that perfect beauty product, look no further than your kitchen. Extra virgin olive oil has a variety of uses that will leave your skin and hair looking and feeling great.

If it seems strange to rub “food” on your skin, think about this: your skin is your largest organ and some people believe that you shouldn’t slather anything on your skin that you wouldn’t be willing to eat. In that case, olive oil is a safe bet. You can also use an olive oil that been's created with skin safety in mind (like the carrier oil you can find here).

While the oil is a delicious addition to any menu, it’s also perfect for your beauty routine. Here’s how you can use it:

Scrub: Mix olive oil and salt (or sugar) to create a paste and scrub your body from head to toe. This will exfoliate your skin and leave it feeling smooth and soft.

Bath: Add a few drops of olive oil to your bath to help soften your skin. This will allow you to relax in a luxurious bath without dehydrating your skin.

Shaving: Use olive oil instead of shaving cream. Your legs will look and feel silky smooth.

How Not To Worry About the Elders In The Family

As our loved ones age, it’s natural to feel a heightened sense of concern about their well-being.

Moisturize: Rub olive oil into your skin before bed. The oil will go to work hydrating and healing your skin while you sleep. This is especially helpful during the winter when the elements leave our skin feeling dry and flaky. If your hands and feet are cracked and dry, slather the olive oil on and cover them with socks before bed.

Make-up Remover: Olive oil is an excellent make-up remover. Rub a few ddrops between your fingertips and then rub on skin to dissolve make-up. Use a tissue to wipe the make-up off with ease.

Under Eye Cream: If you wake up looking puffy, dab a little olive oil under the eyes. It works as an anti-inflammatory.

Lip Balm: Protect your lips from the winter elements by rubbing olive oil into them before going outside. This will help prevent chapping and flaking.

Hair Care: Apply olive oil to clean, damp hair and then wrap it in a warm towel and let it seep in for about 20 minutes. Rinse the oil and enjoy your luxuriously silky locks.

Defrizz: Facing static and frizz? Place a few drops of olive oil on your finger tips and run your fingers through your hair.
